Ethical Ecology
Biodynamic farming asks more of us. Rather than applying simple inputs and methods to the entire property, we give each vine daily attention and treat each block as its own living system, working throughout the year to nourish and replenish our ecosystem. Utilizing cover crops, natural preparations, and compost, our farming replenishes the land, season after season.
Abundance and Life
Of our 80 total acres, fewer than 27 are planted to vine. We devote the remainder to forest and habitat, nurturing a wide array of species from hummingbirds to bobcats. Bluebird boxes, hawk perches, and an extensive insectary invite natural predators to manage pests, while our free-range farm animals enrich the soil, creating natural nourishment that no synthetic input could replicate.
Thriving Farm
Beyond the vines, ADAMVS is a working farm. Estate-grown figs, olives, peaches, apples, blackberries, and honey come from the same land as the grapes that go into the glass. Cattle, donkeys, chickens, and sheep roam the pastures and gardens, each one a working member of the ecosystem. Herbs and flowers, from our garden and the wild, go into our Biodynamic preparations and adorn the tables in the Cypress House and Wine Library.
Listening to the land, honoring what it asks.

Self-Sustaining
Our Demeter-certified Biodynamic farming is rooted in a self-sustaining approach. We grow and prepare our own Biodynamic sprays and composts using plants from our gardens and manure from our animals to nourish the vines and earth. ADAMVS and our sister estate, Château Fonplégade, share the guidance of Biodynamic advisor Corinne Comme, whose work shapes farming on both Howell Mountain and in Saint-Émilion.
