Above the Fogline
Our 80-acre estate rises to nearly 2,000 feet on Howell Mountain, high above the fog that blankets the valley floor. This elevation brings more hours of direct sun, thinner air, and intense ultraviolet exposure, thickening grape skins and deepening color and structure in the glass.
From the Volcano
Viticulturist Giuseppe Tumbarello tailors his farming to each block’s slope and sun exposure. Ancient eruptions across the Vaca Mountains left six distinct volcanic soil types here, from white ash to gravelly loam to iron-laden red clay. The shallowest, most mineral ground yields small, intensely flavored berries, while deeper, richer pockets produce riper, more generous fruit. This diversity makes for nuanced, terroir-driven wines.
Holistic
Viticulture
Organic and Biodynamic certification means that we choose to tend our vineyard and farm the harder—but more rewarding—way. We have planted fewer than 27 acres of our property to vine, leaving the remainder to forest and habitat. Where we could irrigate, we dry farm. Where we could hedge, we braid our shoots by hand. Where we could intervene, we observe. Where we could take from the land, we choose to give back to it.
Estate-Grown
Wines
Every ADAMVS wine begins in this soil. Farmed by hand, row by row and vine by vine, each parcel is kept separate throughout the winemaking process to preserve its distinct character and expression. Explore our estate-grown wines, from ADAMVS, QUINTVS and TÉRES Cabernet Sauvignon to our barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, and STEPHEN, a singular cuvée bringing together ADAMVS and Château Fonplégade.
An Invitation
ADAMVS Allocations
We invite you to join the ADAMVS allocation list for access to our limited-production wines and Howell Mountain estate. Those on our list are the first to receive new releases, special invitations, and opportunities to experience ADAMVS and our sister estates in Bordeaux.
